STATEMENT ABOUT ALLOWING TRANSGENDER WOMEN TO JOIN MISS UNIVERSE

Being a fan of one of the most prestigious beauty arena, I want to express my opinion regarding the participation of transgender women in Miss Universe.

I am aware of the fact that in 2012 (under the management of then co-owner of Miss Universe and now US President Donald Trump), the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) allowed the participation of transgender women after Canadian Jenna Talackova was barred from joining Miss Universe Canada due to her not being a "naturally-born woman".

But it was only that this year where a transgender joined a Miss Universe franchise and won the title, such in the case of Angela Ponce Camacho who just carried away the Miss Universe Spain title therefore making her the first transgender to offficially join the said prestigious beauty pageant.

And just like other people's sentiments and reactions, I was not comfortable to the fact that transgenders will be allowed to join an arena specifically designed for natural-born women. I am not and will never be against the LGBT community but this is too much for me. Asking a former boy turned into girl to join Miss Universe is not right.

Besides, there are a lot of internationally recognized beauty pageants for transgenders - such as Miss International Queen, and many others. They can join them and show to the world that transgenders are unique and special in a way by exposing their beauty, talent and wit to their fellow transgenders. Naturally born women and transgender women will not and will never be equal - not just in the eyes of the people, but more importantly in the eyes of God. Let the Miss Universe be a pageant for those who were born to be women.

In 2013, MUO allowed the participation of a lesbian Miss Universe Spain contestant Patricia Yurena Rodriguez and therefore won as its 1st Runner-up. I never reacted to her joining the Miss Universe since that she, despite being a lesbian by heart, is still a natural-born women and is entitled to a right to be a contestant of Miss Universe. This case is very different from Angela Ponce Camacho who was born as a man but transformed into a woman. That is why it is a little bit alarming on the part of the Miss Universe Organization to let them join the Miss Universe pageant.

I know that all of us deserves a right - an equal opportunity. But let us remember that these rights have certain limitations. We cannot do what we always want. Asking your cute and adorable pet to join a contest for ugly human beings does not gives equality. I've always love and support our LGBT community but please try to reconsider some of your rights. I do recognize your rights as an individual but let us try to know the boundaries and maintain that. From there, everyone will be happy. I will be supporting and proudly wave the rainbow flag for you but not in the Miss Universe stage.
