STATEMENT ABOUT THE RESIGNATION OF PCOO ASSISTANT SECRETARY MOCHA USON

I am overwhelmed to hear that the government’s “Fake News Queen” has already resigned from her post as the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary for Social Media last week.

Uson announced her resignation from PCOO during the Senate budget hearing, saying it would pave the way to approve its 2019 budget. She submitted her resignation letter to the President dated September 28 and was deemed effective on October 1, says Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go.

The sudden resignation came right after legislators, several militant groups, and PCOO officials called for her to step down in her post or for the President to oust her.

Mocha Uson has been repeatedly criticized because of her posts on social media which were deemed inconsistent to her government appointment in PCOO. The latest one, includes a sign language blunder made by her co-game show host and pro-Duterte blogger Drew Olivar which drew flak among the netizens and to the deaf community. She was also widely ranted over her lewd federalism jingle together with Olivar. Uson also violated a Malacañang order banning government employees to go into casinos, and many more.

Since her appointment to the government, I didn’t enjoyed her stay in the government information dissemination arm. Maybe it’s not just with her history on doing pornographic performances on television (and she advocates to prohibit soft porn during her stay in MTRCB) but with her recent flaws when she involved herself in the campaign of then presidential candidate Rody Duterte. As a Bicolano, it also hurts to know that she even don’t know where is Mayon Volcano located and used it just to criticize the country’s Vice President Leni Robredo.

I hope that her resignation in PCOO will be the end of her government service. Hopefully, the spread of fake news in our government officials will also stop from her stepping down. I also expect that this move shall not be only a reason for her to seek public office once more, this time, in an elective manner.
