I am ecstatic to witness two leaders of diametrically opposing ideologies come together and offer each other a handshake as United States President Donald J. Trump met with North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un in Singapore last June 12.
The summit commenced at the famous Capella Hotel in Sentosa Island. Trump and Kim have become the first sitting US president and North Korean leader to meet, an unprecedented development after a year of exchanging threats with each other.
The Singapore summit of the two countries has been made to affirm North Korea's commitment to the complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula as the US demanded "complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation".
There, a comprehensive document has been signed by both leaders which laid out a new relationship between the nations.
The two also shared a light moment on discussing the future of Washington and Pyongyang in the summit.
Singapore has been chosen as the venue for the first US-North Korean summit due to its good diplomatic relations with the two countries. The two leaders has been received warmly by its Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
With this historic summit, the world looks forwards for a developing and productive relationship with the United States and North Korea in the near future. It only proves that countries born with two different ideologies can come together for the good of everyone.
