I personally denounce the remarks given by President Rodrigo Duterte about Naga City, an Maogmang Lugar, as the "hotbed of shabu" without any factual basis to be presented last August 14.

The words delivered by the President seems to be very personal attacks against his Vice President, Leni Robredo, as Naga City is her bailiwick. Apparently, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Naga City (Naga City Council) adopted a resolution that shows its indignation over the statement. They stressed out that until today, Naga City is working for its anti-drugs program that has been implemented even during the term of the Vice President's husband, the late Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government and Naga City Mayor Jesse M. Robredo.

The President can be seen as uncomfortable with his Vice President and the people knows that. But uttering words that negatively affects already a community, specifically speaking a city like Naga that has flourished its economic and social developments for years is not good just to show your criticism against an individual who lives there. The President can voice out his sentiments against Robredo, but not in a manner that would destroy the beautiful reputation and image of the city that her husband cared for a long time as its Chief Executive.

I hope that for the next time the President gives his statements, he will be too careful into it because the Filipino people deserves nothing but a leader that speaks of the truth as everything that you will say is what majority of this nation stands for.
